BEST - BE SMART, BE TOLERANT!

Picture
BEST is a KA2 Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project coordinated by the Romanian association Smart Educational Projects and in which ELA is involved as partner organisation.

The aim of the project BEST is to develop a training kit for young people and youth workers in order to train them in identifying fake news and therefore stopping the spread of disinformation in all sorts of media. Because fake news has the power to trigger political changes, influence people's opinions and create confusion and social unrest, it is essential for the youth to learn how to identify and fight this phenomenon. In fact, young people are the most exposed to this sort of disinformation because of their large amount of news and social media consumption. This project will help young people become active citizens and will equip them with the tools to respond to the challenges generated by the phenomenon of fake news that are affecting all of us everyday more and more.

Learning Activity in Limassol

The first Learning Activity took place in Limassol (Cyprus) from the 3rd till the 7th of July, hosted by Dorea Educational Institute. Three people from each partner organisation took part in this activity that gave us the opportunity to learn more about the main topics of this project such as different types of media biases and main weapons of disinformation. The partners Dorea and SEP presented the first two chapters of the BEST guidebook while at the end of the week IFET presented their concept for the animated videos and we brainstormed some new ideas for the project development. It was a great week and we look forward to the next steps towards taking a concrete step in becoming conscious citizens!
